Surgical Nurse - Acute Care Hospital

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift 5x8 hours: 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM, with an on-call requirement of 4-6 calls in a 6-week timeframe. On-call times include weekdays from 11:00 PM to 07:00 AM and weekends from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM or 07:00 PM to 07:00 AM.

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Nurse to join our team in a community-focused acute care hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various surgical procedures, providing exemplary patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Administer medications and provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
Assist in various surgical procedures, including thoracotomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain infection control standards.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement care plans for patients.
Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

Must possess a valid CA Registered Nurse license.
Minimum of 2 years of surgical nursing experience required.
Current BCLS certification is required; ACLS certification preferred.
Experience with Epic charting system is essential.
