Osborn Rd, Scottsdale, AZ Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 101098-260612 Department: Health & Human Services Opening Date: 06/12/2026 Closing Date: 7/12/2026 11:59 PM Arizona Definition Under general supervision of the Division Chief of Specialty Care, the Podiatrist will examine, diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases, disorders and deformities of the human foot; and to do related work as required. The Podiatrist must diagnose, plan and conduct course of treatment for patients; assists in the planning and coordination of podiatry services. Instruct patients and staff in proper foot care. The Podiatrist must be able to communicate well and be able to establish rapport with patients and their families, being sensitive to the needs of the community and its cultures, traditions, behavior patterns, and backgrounds. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt. Essential Functions: (Essential functions may vary amongpositions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.) Examples of Tasks Diagnoses, treats, or prescribes treatment of the foot, ankle, and other related structures using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results for pediatric and adult patients. Delivers preliminary diagnosis to patients and directs, prescribes, or provides a full treatment regimen, including health education, health maintenance, prescription medications, and follow-up services. Assesses, plans and implements appropriate interventions to clients with diabetes, including those with active foot complications requiring pressure care and wound management. Practices effective infection control procedures. Provides advice on appropriate footwear and foot care to clients. Performs foot, ankle, and related structure surgeries within the scope of practice at HHS facility or for HHS patients at a local outpatient surgery center in order to maintain continuity of care. Performs office procedures and wound care to foot, ankle, and related structures Consults with inter-professional team on the care of patients. Prescribes medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery and sets fractures. Advises patients about treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems. Records all diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions. Prepares, maintains, and updates electronic medical records in accordance with clinic guidelines and organizational needs. Contributes to the evaluation of clinic programs and quality improvement through participation, development, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Attends and contributes to all required meetings/consultations including general and clinic staff meetings, and all specialized committee/program meetings. Works in conjunction with clinic leadership to ensure all required medical reports are completed in a timely manner. Completes special assignments to upgrade clinical quality of care and administration as assigned. Performs general medical or administrative duties, within the appropriate scope of work, as needed and assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics: Knowledge of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, its resources and of Pima-Maricopa/American Indian culture and traditions. Knowledge of contemporary podiatry techniques and healthcare issues, and ensure all clinical practice is in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, professional code of ethics, professional code of conduct and available evidence. Knowledge of evidenced based podiatry assessment and restorative interventions. Knowledge of conservative and surgical management of the lower extremity, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, fracture care, infection management, comprehensive diabetic foot evaluations, diabetic shoe and diabetic insole consults. Knowledge of and absolute commitment to the principles and practices of infection control, regulations and procedures. Skill in determining the appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of podiatry patients. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clinic staff, the community and health care providers. Skill in utilizing a personal computer and use of an electronic medical record to develop evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Skill in problem solving, analytical abilities, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Skill in basic computer and database software operation knowledge, and demonstrate a working knowledge of routine office hardware and equipment (e.g. printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.). Ability to provide quality patient care by delivering evidenced based podiatry interventions through the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot problems. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations, and be willing to provide instruction to patients. Ability to maintain accurate records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing, and operational use, including capacities for attention to detail and for reviewing and verifying accuracy of data. Ability to organize and follow one's own work schedule (i.e. setting priorities, being available during work hours, and meeting critical deadlines). Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of organizational, employee, and client records. Ability to deliver effective education, training, and presentations on technical medical subjects to large and/or small groups of various educational and cultural backgrounds. Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from a school of podiatric medicine accredited by the American Podiatric Medical Association's Council on Podiatric Medical Education (APMA) at the time the degree was obtained. Must have a current, valid Arizona license to practice Podiatry. A minimum of one year of direct patient experience in an office, clinic or hospital. Certified through the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) preferred. Experience with Native American and minority populations preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered. Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill. Special Requirements May be required to work outside normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
