Johnson County Community College Position: Academic Achievement Center Coordinator Part‑time Regular position, Non‑Exempt, 25 hours per week, no hybrid schedule, salary range $23.16–$29.97 per hour. First review date begins Monday, June 8, 2026. Position Summary The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) Coordinator supports the academic success of students in the AAC. This position oversees hiring, training, and supervising a select group of tutors and is responsible for creating, scheduling, and providing academic workshops to a variety of student groups. The coordinator also manages the Academic Integrity remediation process and supports the work of the Cav Comeback Program. In the absence of the Director, the coordinator helps guide center operations and supports broader academic success initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in education, teaching, tutoring, or academic services Experience developing and presenting workshops, resources, or instructional material Understanding of current student needs related to executive functioning and academic integrity Required Skills Professional and effective written and verbal communication Ability to use multiple educational technologies Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Excellent time‑management and organizational abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA guidelines Collaborative mindset and ability to work across departments Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree Strong leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills Ability to resolve student and team concerns professionally Understanding of higher education environment, including a working knowledge of student support services or tutoring programs Experience analyzing and synthesizing data to guide program growth and change Responsibilities Hire, onboard, train, and supervise the Tutor I, II, and III employees through regular group and individual training sessions, observations, and performance appraisals. Review and approve payroll, address disciplinary issues as they arise, and adjust staffing levels as needed. Collaborate with center staff and other departments in the creation and implementation of projects, including developing and maintaining paper handouts/brochures and electronic website center resources. Deliver content‑specific workshops on topics such as Smart Starts or time management techniques. Create online learning materials (i.e., LMS learning modules) and contribute to ARC and campus‑wide events. Support students in achieving educational goals through one‑time and/or continued academic coaching sessions and assist with the Academic Alert process as needed. Refer students to appropriate campus and community resources, work with tutors to manage challenging and contentious student situations, and address student and parent concerns (when authorized) in a confidential and professional manner. Serve as a liaison between AAC and academic departments. Customize tutoring needs per discipline, and represent the AAC and larger ARC at campus‑wide events (i.e., Cav Kick‑Off, Cav Connections, population‑specific orientations, and resource fairs). Manage the daily operations of the tutoring program, including identifying and shifting tutoring needs based on student/faculty requests. Manage semester‑long tutoring assignments, maintain appropriate drop‑in and/or by‑appointment tutoring coverage, communicate tutor availability with instructors, create and manage tutoring records, and conduct regular evaluations of the tutors and tutoring program. Promote and market the AAC Tutoring program effectively through written, online, and in‑person content. Assist in the daily operations of the AAC in the absence of the Director, including handling student concerns, filling in for desk and floor coverage as needed, troubleshooting technical problems (including LMS, software, and hardware problems), and managing contentious or complex situations. Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhere to FERPA, and keep appropriate faculty/staff updated on student progress and problems. Participate in mandatory and voluntary center and campus training, maintain an awareness of the current local and national higher education climate and content‑specific concerns, consult with colleagues at peer institutions on best practices, and attend regional and national conferences as appropriate.
