Your impact As a Shop Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in: Ensuring all plant equipment is always operating safely and efficiently. Championing a robust safety culture throughout the organization. Conducting timely repairs based on inspections and proactively addressing maintenance needs. Attending and contributing to plant maintenance and safety meetings. What you'll do Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems for plants and support facilities. Use a full range of tools and equipment—from hand and power tools to hoists, cranes, welding and testing instruments. Listen, observe, and troubleshoot equipment issues, collaborating with team members to find and implement solutions. Dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery, replacing defective parts and ensuring precise, reliable operation. Clean, lubricate, and maintain plant machinery to maximize efficiency and productivity. Perform skilled welding and fabrication to repair or enhance equipment. Maintain inventory, order essential parts and supplies, and keep accurate maintenance records. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, drivers, operators, and customers—both in person and via radio/telephone. Assist fellow maintenance staff and help drive overall plant efficiency. What we're looking for Proven experience with mechanical and welding tools and procedures. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with an eye for detail and a passion for quality work. Valid driver’s license and flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and variable shifts as needed. Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints; experience with computers and control panels a plus. Dedication to safety in all aspects of the job. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility. Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height. Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed. Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions. Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments. Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
