RN - PCU

Registered Nurse

Traveler will work in both the acute medical and progressive care unit and the thoracic unit. Day/evening shifts are from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/step-down experience is required. A telemetry test must be passed prior to starting the assignment. The role involves caring for patients with a variety of thoracic conditions. This includes lung and esophageal diseases, lobectomies, decortications, and esophagectomies. The nurse will assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion in the procedure room. Strong teamwork and critical thinking skills are essential in this role. Candidates must be willing to integrate evidence-based nursing practices into unit culture. Prior experience in ICU or IMC and surgical post-operative care is required. Thoracic experience is preferred. Travelers will be required to float as needed. All candidates must have two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty. A telemetry exam will be required prior to starting. The following criteria must be met in two attempts for the telemetry exam: 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole. No incorrect answers on questions regarding third-degree heart blocks. A passing score of 80% or higher is required.
