Job Summary

Dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector in ensuring product compliance and adherence to industry standards. Skilled in conducting thorough inspections, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions to enhance product quality. Proficient in using various inspection tools and techniques, with a strong focus on maintaining safety and quality protocols. Seeking to leverage expertise in quality assurance to contribute to de Jong Duke’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Essential functions

1. Inspection & Testing

Perform sampling inspections on incoming supplier components based on defined dimensional and visual requirements

Evaluate and process rejected parts from production lines according to quality standards

Accurately record and report measurement results and findings (Excel-based reporting) 

Success Criteria:

Measurements are accurate, complete, and compliant with quality standards

Nonconforming parts are properly identified and processed

Reports are timely, complete, and error-free

2. Document management

Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and findings to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Success Criteria:

Documents stored according to defined naming conventions and in centralized locations so that they can be easily retrieved when needed. Documents are controlled to ensure compliance requirements are met.

3. Root Cause Analysis

Participate in investigations of quality issues, conducting root cause analysis to determine underlying problems and develop solutions. 

Success Criteria:

Conclusions drawn are supported by unbiased data.

Qualifications:

• Attention to Detail : Ability to notice small discrepancies and defects, ensuring products meet quality standards.
• Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO) relevant to quality assurance.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication to report findings and collaborate with team members.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple inspections and maintain detailed records systematically.
• Team Collaboration : Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and management.
• Adaptability : Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Quality Assurance Techniques : Knowledge of quality control methodologies such as Measurement-System-Analysis and 8D Problem Solving
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance product quality.

May work in various environments, including areas with noise and temperature variations.

Physical demands

• Standing for Extended Periods : Frequently required to stand for long durations during inspections and monitoring processes.
• Lifting and Carrying : May need to lift and carry materials or products, often weighing up to 25-50 lbs.
• Reaching and Bending : Engaging in activities that require reaching for tools or products and bending to inspect items at various heights.
• Walking: Moving throughout the facility to conduct inspections in different areas, often on various surfaces.
• Visual Acuity : Must have good vision to detect defects and ensure precise measurements, which may include close-up and distance viewing.
• Climbing: Occasionally required to climb ladders or stairs to inspect equipment or materials located at height.

Travel required.

Travel may be required to our off-site warehouse for inspection of material.

Required education and experience.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerances
• Experience using measurement tools including calipers, jigs, feeler gauges etc.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office programs such as MS Word and Excel
• High school Diploma.

Preferred education and experience

• Quality or engineering focused education
• Quality or auditing certifications
• Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies (8D reports, MSA studies, Statistical Process Control)
• Experience working in a cross cultural/international environment

• Responsibility:  Should feel responsible for the quality experience of the people at De Jong Duke but also its customers. Should take pride in resolving issues and delivering an excellent experience to people that depend on a measurable result
• Structure/Precision : Should be able to work in a consistent and structured manner. Ideally taking the lead in documenting processes and ensuring uniform work methods.
• Communication : Communicates easily with colleagues, suppliers and customers (when needed) in the right tone and be able to inspire a sense of urgency where needed.
• Initiative : Identifies improvement opportunities and acts on them in coordination with leadership
