Associate Attorney - Employment Litigation

An established firm based in Gainesville, FL with over 50 years in practice is seeking an Employment and Labor Litigation Attorney with 3+ years of experience to join their team. This Attorney will have experience with BI/PI defense, labor and employment defense, and abuse claims (misconduct allegations) , ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while representing governmental clients in complex litigation matters.

Salary range: $130,000-$180,000+, contingent on experience

Qualifications : 

3+ years of employment litigation experience with a focus on defense matters
Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
Experience representing governmental or educational institutions is preferred but not required
Trial experience as first chair or second chair in litigation matters
Experience drafting and arguing substantive or dispositive motions
Experience independently taking substantive depositions
Strong ability to manage complex and high-exposure cases involving labor and employment and misconduct claims
Ability to work independently and think strategically in fast-paced litigation environments
Residence near Boca, Coral Gables, or Ft. Lauderdale

 

Responsibilities : 

Represent governmental clients in BI/PI defense, labor and employment defense, and abuse-related litigation matters
Manage a caseload consisting primarily of bodily injury and personal injury defense with additional labor and employment and misconduct claims
Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and dispositive filings in state and federal courts
Argue motions and represent clients in hearings, depositions, and trial proceedings
Conduct and defend depositions as part of case strategy and development
Travel up to two times per month to Gainesville and surrounding areas for investigations and client consultations
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop case strategy while maintaining high responsiveness
Handle matters subject to sovereign immunity considerations while navigating exceptions under federal law
Operate as a self-starter with the ability to independently manage priorities and deliver results in an active caseload environment
