About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical-Surgical / Telemetry unit in Tyler, TX. The RN will provide high-quality patient care, monitor cardiac conditions, and support patients through a variety of medical and post-surgical needs in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Med/Surg (36 beds)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Floating: Required (to equal or lower acuity units)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (half of scheduled shifts)
• Charting System: EPIC (Required)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to Med/Surg and Telemetry patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies
• Administer medications, including blood products and IV therapies
• Perform patient assessments and document care using EPIC
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
• Proficiency in:
  • IV starts, PICC lines, and ports
  • Blood product administration
  • Heparin and PCA management
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Colostomy and feeding tube care
  • Tracheostomy care and oxygen therapy
  • Wound care and surgical drains
• Familiarity with:
  • Orthopedic trauma and total joint patients

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum required experience in Med/Surg & Telemetry 
• BLS/ACLS certifications (required)
• EPIC charting experience (mandatory)
