Stockroom Associate - First Shift - Poway

The Stockroom Associate receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, supplies, merchandise, and tools, while accurately maintaining stock records in a stockroom or warehouse environment. This role also serves as a backup for shipping and receiving activities when needed and supports production by managing inventory transactions, kits, and material flows in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Control the issuing and receipt of inventory into and out of stocking locations by following prescribed processes and handling procedures, including material identification, counting, transporting, and packaging for end users or storage.
• Kit stockroom parts according to production work order bills of material to ensure timely support of manufacturing operations.
• Replenish production floor Kanban materials as needed to maintain continuous production flow.
• Conduct cycle counts regularly and perform variance root cause analysis to resolve discrepancies and improve inventory accuracy.
• Provide stockroom service support for all departments by responding to material requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
• Perform Lean projects and participate in continuous improvement events to enhance stockroom efficiency and organization.
• Manage materials using first-in, first-out (FIFO) methods to maintain proper stock rotation and minimize obsolescence.
• Process finished work orders and receive finished products into finished goods stock, ensuring accurate system transactions.
• Manage material shortages in accordance with stockroom procedures and promptly notify planners and buyers of issues impacting production.
• Maintain inventory and other stock records accurately, including data entry into the ERP system.
• Store articles in an orderly and accessible manner in bins, on the floor, or on shelves in the warehouse or other areas, using identifying information such as style, size, or material type.
• Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions or notify buyers when replenishment is required.
• Assist Production in ongoing work-in-progress (WIP) shop order audits to verify material usage and inventory integrity.
• Coordinate with planning, purchasing, quality, and shipping departments to ensure materials are issued correctly and transactions are processed accurately and on time.
• Provide WIP status updates and help maintain production schedules to support efficient operations.
• Serve as a backup for shipping and receiving by auditing receipts for proper part markings, quantities, revisions, purchase order numbers, delivery dates, and packaging.
• Process incoming receipts according to communicated priorities and enter data accurately into the system.
• Operate forklifts as necessary to move materials safely and efficiently within the facility.
• Generate customer packing lists and other required shipping documents in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
• Pack customer orders for shipment using appropriate materials and methods to prevent damage.
• Follow all export policies and laws when processing outbound shipments.
• Work with production teams to stage finished products for shipment in accordance with shipping schedules.
• Collaborate with Production Planners and Sales Administrators to meet customer shipment schedules and requirements.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) and 2–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience using an ERP system to perform material and inventory transactions.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills, including the ability to create spreadsheets and graphs.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification and safely operate forklifts as required.
• Familiarity with bills of material (BOMs) and routings related to production work orders.
• Knowledge of backflush and front flush processes, Kanban systems, and point-of-use inventory practices.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of inventory management procedures and terminology, including stocking locations, SKUs, inventory variances, and cycle counting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily material handling activities.
• Proficiency in inventory control activities such as cycle counts, material handling, data entry, and use of RF scanners.
• Eligibility as a U.S. Person for access to ITAR-controlled technical data.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Some college coursework or material and inventory control certificates are preferred.
• Knowledge of 7S methodology is a plus.
• Experience in writing work instructions and procedures is a plus.
• Experience or training in lean methodologies is a plus.
• Previous experience in a stockroom, warehouse, or inventory control environment is beneficial.
• Strong computer skills and comfort working with data entry and electronic records.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when handling materials and completing transactions.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with planning, purchasing, quality, production, and shipping teams.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced stockroom and warehouse setting that closely supports production operations. You work with ERP systems, RF scanners, and standard office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as material handling equipment including forklifts. The role involves frequent movement throughout the facility, organizing materials in bins, on shelves, and on the floor, and lifting items up to 50 pounds. You may rotate between stockroom and shipping/receiving areas as business needs require, handling finished goods, incoming materials, and customer shipments while adhering to established procedures, export regulations, and safety practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
