Application Operations Engineer

Salary: $155,000 - 195,000 per year Requirements:

• We require 4+ years of experience in application operations, SRE, or platform engineering within a cloud-native environment, ideally on AWS.
• We need strong working knowledge of serverless architectures, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, and EventBridge.
• We expect deep familiarity with modern authentication and authorization methods such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, PKCE, mutual TLS, and API key governance.
• We look for understanding of security frameworks and controls, including OWASP, CIS Benchmarks, NIST 800-53, or SOC 2.
• We want hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, ArgoCD, or similar, along with writing the supporting configuration.
• We require experience with security tools, including SAST/DAST scanners, dependency reviews, secrets handling, and WAF configuration.
• We value proficiency with observability platforms such as CloudWatch, X-Ray, Datadog, Grafana, or equivalent.
• We need strong scripting ability in Bash, Python, or Node.js for automation, incident-response tooling, and reporting.
• We look for experience handling DLQs, event replay, and idempotency in distributed systems.
• Preferred experience includes HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, an AWS Security Specialty or similar certification, SIEM platforms such as Splunk or Sentinel, and FinOps awareness.
• We require a bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.

• We manage DevOps operations for AWS, own infrastructure code, and implement necessary changes.
• We oversee release management, own the release process, improve it over time, and drive successful delivery.
• We extend our process ownership into additional platforms as needed.
• We configure and support AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, SES, Cognito, IAM, S3, and EventBridge.
• We translate security-team findings into actionable work and address related remediation items.
• We map security callouts to the relevant AWS services and maintain a clear action list.
• We execute remediation tasks to close security findings and continuously address issues from automated scans.
• We maintain monitoring and alerting across AWS services so our team can triage failures or outages quickly.
• We configure notification mechanisms to support operational awareness and response.
