Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

$56.54 - $74.62 per hour

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serves as an integral member of the Department of Psychiatry's team, providing screening, assessments, short and intermediate-term psychotherapy services, crisis intervention, care coordination, referral to community resources, and other social work services designed to meet the complex needs of patients and families in the clinic setting. The incumbent will be actively involved in providing supportive therapy services and case management/coordination to patients and families seeking services in both the Adult and Children's Behavioral Health clinics. This position will be equally split between providing clinical/therapy services and case management, pending operational need. The LCSW shall adhere to and promote the ethics and values of the social work profession, using the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision-making. The LCSW will advocate for the patient's right to self-determination, confidentiality, access to supportive services and resources, and appropriate inclusion in decision-making that affects their health and well-being. The LCSW will be an active participant and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team by recognizing and offering services that address the biopsychosocial needs of the patient. The LCSW position requires a high level of clinical judgement, problem-solving skills, creativity, organizational and problem-solving abilities, and excellent clinical and communication skills. The LCSW demonstrates the ability to fulfill these responsibilities through clinical assessment and treatment, accurate and sound judgment, and maintaining professional communication. The LCSW may be asked to participate in special projects and collect data to improve the quality of services delivered to our patients. The LCSW must be flexible, as changes in technology, healthcare coverage, regulatory requirements, and our patient population may mandate changes to workflow, work standards, and work practices on an as-needed basis. Apply By Date July 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM Minimum Qualifications California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Master's degree (MSW) from an accredited school of social work At least 3 years of professional work experience in case management, crisis intervention, resource linkage, or related work Extensive, broad-based clinical experience identifying and analyzing care/service needs for patients Strong proficiency in psychosocial assessment, case evaluation, and treatment planning Knowledge of biopsychosocial and behavioral health treatment plans Knowledge of care/services provided in differing levels of care in healthcare/institutional settings Knowledge of community resources and awareness of how to assist patients and families with linkage to resources Basic proficiency in computer applications and Microsoft Office Suite functionality Knowledge of legal requirements and guidelines for providing psychiatric services, including mental status exams, suicide risk assessments, 5150 applications, and mandated reporting requirements Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, dealings with cultural and socioeconomic diversity Requires a high level of clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as creativity, strong organizational and prioritization abilities, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle demanding workload involving multiple tasks effectively and efficiently Demonstrated ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, ability to effectively collaborate with physicians and other healthcare and psychiatric providers, consumers and families, clinical and research staff, and other health care professionals Ability to work with all levels of staff, both inter- and intra-departmental to create a cooperative relationship and positive working environment Must be able to master detailed and complex information regarding coordination of care Ability to perform in-depth chart analysis to obtain and communicate accurate information in a concise, informative manner Ability to work independently and organize a variety of concurrent activities, set realistic goals and objectives, plan ahead and meet deadlines without compromising quality Preferred Qualifications Experience with assisting in psychiatric case management services including psychiatric hospitalization and linkage to community resources Outpatient behavioral health experience focused on psychotherapy Experience with electronic medical records Previous experience working with family members of consumers with major psychiatric disorders Use of Spanish language skills in a professional context Key Responsibilities 80% - Clinical Services/Communication/Collaboration 15% - Communication/Collaboration/ Teamwork 5% - Training/Education/Research/ Professional Development Department Overview The Ambulatory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is a collaborative team of approximately 80 faculty, staff, residents, fellows, and trainees who work together to provide a comprehensive range of mental and behavioral health services to a diverse socioeconomic patient population throughout the greater Sacramento area. Specialties in the Department include adult and child psychiatry, integrated behavioral health, women's mental health, medically complex clinics for adults and pediatrics, geriatric psychiatry, advanced psychiatric therapeutics including TMS and esketamine, a substance use disorder treatment clinic, a trauma disorders clinic, mood disorder clinic, anxiety/OCD program, LGBTQ+ mental health clinic, and an early psychosis clinic. In addition, the Department offers multiple therapy groups for various patient populations as well as an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
