Behavioral Health Care Technician Job Description:

BHT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Daily interactions with residents.

· Engaging residents with daily activities.

· Medication administration and recording medication accurately.

· Creating, Maintaining, and organizing resident files.

· Organizing resident appointments and transportation.

· School drop-off and pick-up in facility van.

· Participating in CFT, IEP Meetings etc.

· Preparing daily meals, maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe facility.

· Personnel, room, and facility contraband searches.

· Deescalating and/or redirecting residents in moments of crisis.

· Following emergency and safety procedures for any moments of crisis.

· Writing incident reports when needed.

· Assisting in the personal care of residents.

. Other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL FUNCTIONS:

· Problem-solving

· Adapting to changing environments

· Visual monitoring of facility’s residents.

· Ability to assess behavioral situations and utilize crisis management as applicable

· Attentive and Professional

· Ability to work with diverse personalities

· Excellent communication skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Walking

· Visual acuity

· Standing/Sitting

· Driving Facility’s Vehicle

· Bending/Twisting/ Turning

· Ability to lift safely

· Reading/Writing/Typing

 

EQUIPMENT USAGE:

· Facility’s Vehicles

· Household appliances

· Computer, Printer, Scanner, Phone, and Fax Machine.

HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

· Maintains a safe and hazard-free work environment;

· Reports to supervisor the malfunction of equipment or any issue at the facility;

· Reasonable thought processes in emergency situations;

· Reports potential infections, infestations, accidents, and incidents by completing applicable reporting paperwork and reporting procedures;

· Understands health and safety of the individuals and ensuring a safe work environment;

· Exercises good driving habits.

· Treat residents with dignity and respect.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Must be at least 21 years old. Requires any combination of training, education, and experience listed below:

· Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.

· Satisfactory work history as determined by the Human Resources.

· Valid level 1 fingerprint clearance card; valid CPR license that meets the Pediatric First Aid/ CPR / AED certification.

· Clean driving record.

· Successfully completes facility training sessions.

· Prior residential facility experience preferred.

 

Pay Rate:

Per Diem. $12.00 min - $14.00 max.
