Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, security, and customer portal behind the development of our self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles. This is a senior individual-contributor role. You'll own our GitHub Actions pipelines and internal server and cloud infrastructure end to end, and you'll secure those systems and the services we host. As the technical owner of security controls, you'll help Intramotev meet government and CMMC requirements under NIST SP 800-171 and DFARS. You'll also build, deploy, and operate a customer portal for documents, videos, demos, and data dashboards. In your first 90 days, you'll assess the current pipelines, infrastructure, and security posture against CMMC expectations. You'll set a near-term improvement roadmap and work with stakeholders to scope the portal. This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and engage in occasional domestic travel for testing, integration, demonstrations, and customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Pipeline Architecture: Own GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline architecture, including reliability, build times, and developer experience, and set the technical direction for how the pipeline scales as the engineering org grows.
• Infrastructure Architecture: Own internal server and cloud infrastructure strategy, not just day-to-day maintenance, and make the availability, performance, and scaling decisions for the engineering team.
• Cybersecurity: Secure engineering infrastructure, pipelines, and hosted services. This covers system hardening, identity and access management, secrets management, vulnerability scanning and patching, logging and monitoring, and incident response basics.
• Government & CMMC Compliance: Implement and maintain the technical controls required by NIST SP 800-171 and DFARS. Produce and maintain evidence and documentation, such as system security plan inputs and POA&M items, and support assessments and audits alongside the wider compliance effort.
• Customer Portal Development: Build, deploy, secure, and operate a customer portal for documents, videos, demos, and data dashboards. This includes the application itself, customer authentication and access control, content delivery, and the data pipelines that feed the dashboards.
• Standards & Test Automation: Set standards for internally built engineering tools and how they fit into development workflows. Establish Infrastructure-as-Code practices where none exist yet, and own the architecture of the automated testing framework within the pipeline.
• Lifecycle Support: Lead diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure and deployment issues for fielded systems, including the harder and more ambiguous cases.
• Operations & Mentoring: Establish runbooks, on-call and escalation basics, and documentation practices for a growing DevOps function. Capture institutional knowledge and mentor less-senior DevOps and engineering staff on operational and security practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $115,000 - $135,000 plus equity Intramotev offers a comprehensive benefits package for all team members, including:

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

At least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 8 or more years of experience in DevOps, Software Engineering, Build/Release Engineering, or Systems Administration, including experience making CI/CD or infrastructure architecture decisions yourself rather than working under someone else's design. Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches. Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI) at a scale requiring architectural decisions, not just pipeline authoring. Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including infrastructure design tradeoffs. Strong Linux systems administration and shell scripting experience. Hands-on cybersecurity experience securing infrastructure and pipelines, such as system hardening, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability management, plus experience implementing technical controls for a security or compliance framework. A startup or small-company background, or an equivalent small-team role inside a larger company, where you owned the full CI/CD and infrastructure stack end to end as the decision-maker rather than a narrow specialist slice of it. A track record of mentoring less-senior engineers or setting technical standards for a team. Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below: Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, Unmanned Systems, or other hardware/embedded domains. Direct experience with CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS View phone number on click.appcast.io, or FedRAMP environments, including supporting a third-party or government assessment; or experience handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or working in GCC High, AWS GovCloud, or Azure Government. Security certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CCP). Experience building and deploying production web applications, not only hosting them — for example customer-facing portals or data dashboards built with a modern web framework, video and document hosting with CDN delivery, or embedded analytics tools (e.g., Grafana, Power BI, Superset). Experience supporting embedded software builds or hardware-in-the-loop testing. Containerization with Docker, including production orchestration, and hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code experience (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) beyond familiarity. Experience standing up monitoring and observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) from scratch, with Python or Bash scripting for automation. Experience on cross-functional teams alongside other engineering disciplines; Agile/Scrum environments.

Typical Education and Experience Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 8 or more years' related work experience.
