Pipefitters are responsible for the assembly, alignment, and bolting of flanged piping systems to ensure safe, accurate, and code-compliant installation. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of water and wastewater piping systems, and a commitment to quality and safety in a heavy civil construction environment.What You'll DoAssemble, align, and bolt flanged piping systems in accordance with drawings, specifications, and safety requirementsRead and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings to ensure accurate installationVerify proper placement and orientation of gaskets, bolts, and flanges to ensure leak-free connectionsUse appropriate torquing methods, tools, and equipment to achieve required bolt tension and alignmentCut, thread, and fit piping components as required for proper installationPerform layout, measurement, and marking for pipe routes and supportsInspect installed piping systems to confirm compliance with project requirements and industry standardsWork collaboratively with welders, millwrights, and other craft professionals to coordinate installation activitiesMaintain tools and equipment in good working condition and keep work areas clean and safeFollow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirementsWhat We're Looking ForMinimum of 3 years of pipefitting experience in industrial or water/wastewater constructionStrong knowledge of flanged and bolt-up piping systems, including gasket selection and torque proceduresAbility to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematicsFamiliarity with piping materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, PVC, and similar systemsProficiency with pipefitting tools including torque wrenches, impact wrenches, beveling machines, grinders, and cutting toolsStrong understanding of piping alignment and bolt torquing practicesPhysical ability to lift, carry, and position heavy materials and equipmentAbility to perform the physical requirements of the job, including prolonged standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and climbingAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 50 poundsAbility to take direction from supervisors and remain task-orientedCommitment to following all company and general safety rules, policies, and guidelinesThis job summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position.
