Mechanical Superintendent - Mission Critical

POSITION SUMMARYThe Mechanical Pipefitting Superintendent is responsible for leading field execution of complex mechanical work on large mission critical projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. This role plans and manages multiple self-perform process mechanical crews and could also supervise subcontractors, they oversee implementation of project-specific safety programs and task hazard analyses, and drives adherence to schedule and budget. The Superintendent interprets contract documents and mechanical drawings, coordinates with owners, inspectors, and other trades, and supports project teams with isometric drawings, shop drawings, prefabrication and material planning. They play a key role in resolving field issues in real time, ensuring work is installed correctly the first time, and fostering a collaborative, problem-solving culture across the project team.RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in implementation of project-specific safety and accident prevention programs and maintain safe work areas through regular job-site inspections.Lead McCarthy’s Task Hazard Analysis (THA) process and implement all safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs.Maintain thorough understanding of project schedule and budget, enforcing plans and motivating employees to follow through. Assist project superintendent in locating/onboarding manpower, developing/implementing project plans and maintaining current contract documents.Schedule and manage multiple crews performing various tasks across the project site.Allocate resources, plan activities, review work and manage consumables/equipment, including compiling a comprehensive bill of materials and coordinating deliveries. Comprehend contract drawings/specifications and communicate with owners, inspectors and other trades. Create isometric drawings and assist project engineers in the shop drawing/submittal process.QUALIFICATIONSPrior experience in complex commercial or mission critical construction projects required.Minimum of 8 years of mechanical leadership experience required, preferably within a pipefitting setting.Self-perform experience is strongly desired.Ability to work in a large team environment with a problem-solving, project-first mentality. Determination to take control and achieve results in identifying issues, reaching resolution and communicating with all team members to ensure work is installed properly the first time.Geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region is preferred however nationwide travel is possible to support project demands.Submitting a project list with details is highly encouraged.McCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
