GI/Renal Unit Registered NurseNortheast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities.The GI/Renal Unit is a 39-bed nursing unit with four rooms designed for semi-private occupancy. It is a medical/surgical unit designated to care for patients with renal and gastroenterological illnesses, as well as other general medical patients in times of high census. As the designated renal medical unit, their specialty is caring for patients that require Peritoneal Dialysis and is the preferred unit for these patients to be placed if clinically appropriate. Care is provided for a wide variety of illnesses and symptoms, including but not limited to:End Stage Renal Disease requiring HemodialysisEnd Stage Renal Disease requiring Peritoneal DialysisRhabdomyolysis • Acute kidney injuryAcute renal failureHematuria requiring Continuous Bladder IrrigationUlcerative ColitisCrohn's DiseaseLiver cirrhosisGastrointestinal hemorrhageAbdominal pain (non-surgical), N/V/D, GastritisCholecystitisOther medical patients in times of high censusPatients and patient family members receive physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial support for themselves and their families.
