Overview1. Job Summary The Grill Cook is a skilled culinary professional responsible for the expert preparation and cooking of a wide variety of grilled items, including meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables, to the exact specifications of our recipes and guest requests. This position demands ahigh level of precision, speed, and consistency in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment. The Grill Cook is crucial in delivering perfectly cooked, flavorful, and visually appealing dishes, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. 2. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate the grill station efficiently, ensuring all necessary tools, equipment, and mise en place are ready before and during service. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of orders, maintaining our commitment to quality and presentation. Keep your workstation clean, organized, and stocked with fresh ingredients to deliver consistently excellent dishes. Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a safe dining experience for our guests. 3. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (10-12 hours). Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (e.g.bulk food items, equipment, inventory). Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting during food preparation and equipment handling. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for chopping, slicing, plating, and using kitchen tools and machinery. Ability to work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments. Must be able to taste and smell food to ensure quality and consistency. Visual acuity to monitor food presentation, cleanliness, and safety standards. Ability to move freely in large kitchen spaces, storage areas, and multiple dining facilities across campus. May require climbing ladders or using step stools to access upper storage or equipment.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties And Responsibilities:* Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.* Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items.* Uses established ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods.* Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.* Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.* Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.* Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.* Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.* Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.* Attends in-service and safety meetings.* Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.* Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.* Performs other duties as assigned.Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
