Mid-Level Exploitation Specialist/Data ScientistsCulmen International is hiring a Mid-Level Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientists to provide support on-site at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in Springfield, VA, supporting an Analysis Office (AOT/US SOCOM).The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) expects to deliver AOS Metadata Cataloging and Management Services to enhance product and asset management of content enabling rapid creation of discoverable, modular, web enabled, and visually enriched Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) products for intelligence producers in NGA, across the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG).What You'll Do in Your New RoleThe Data Scientist will coordinate with our clients to understand questions and issues involving the client's datasets, then determine the best method and approach to create data-driven solutions within program guidelines. This position will be relied upon and be expected to assist in the development of automated processes, architect data science solutions, automated workflows, conduct analysis, use available tools to analyze data, remain adaptable to mission requirements, and identify patterns to help solve some of the complex problems that face the DoD and Intelligence Community (IC).Work with large structured / unstructured data in a modeling and analytical environment to define and create streamline processes in the evaluation of unique datasets and solve challenging intelligence issuesLead and participate in the design of solutions and refinement of pre-existing processesWork with Customer Stakeholders, Program Managers, and Product Owners to translate road map features into components/tasks, estimate timelines, identify resources, suggest solutions, and recognize possible risksUse exploratory data analysis techniques to identify meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex dataCombine applied mathematics, programming skills, analytical techniques, and data to provide impactful insights for decision makersResearch and implement optimization models, strategies, and methods to inform data management activities and analysisApply big data analytic tools to large, diverse sets of data to deliver impactful insights and assessmentsConduct peer reviews to improve quality of workflows, procedures, and methodologiesHelp build high-performing teams; mentor team members providing development opportunities to increase their technical skills and knowledgeRequired QualificationsRequires TS/SCI Clearance with the ability to obtain a CI/Poly.9+ years of relevant experience in data science, automation, software development, data engineering, database integration, GEOINT support, or related technical disciplines. A combination of education, professional certifications, and technical training may be considered in lieu of some years of experienceExperience supporting IC operationsMust have a background with intelligence experience, where they provided analysis and/or data science to an intelligence mission.Must be able to operate at a mid-level and in an independent environment.Must be proficient at creating processes around large data sets to identify analytical discoveries,Proficiency in Python and its data science and visualization ecosystem, including Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Plotly, Dash, Bokeh, and related libraries.Experience querying and integrating web APIs through Python to retrieve, normalize, and operationalize data.Experience developing interactive data visualizations using Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib, Bokeh, or comparable tools.Experience building dashboards and analytic interfaces using Dash, Streamlit, Panel, Tableau, or similar platforms.Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.Experience using Git-based version control platforms such as GitLab or GitHub.Proficiency with geospatial processing frameworks such as GDAL or ArcPy.Proficiency with GIS desktop software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation related to software systems and automated workflows.Ability to operate independently at a senior level with limited oversight.Familiarity with USSOCOM and broader U.S. military organizational structures.Familiarity with common Intelligence Community (IC) data repositories.Demonstrated experience connecting multiple databases and enterprise systems to automate data collection, transformation, and dissemination.Experience automating repetitive business or analytic tasks using scripts and workflows.Experience gathering and disseminating metrics and operational data.Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement automation solutions that improve workflow performance.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesMust be able to support:An understanding of Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) operating within the USSOUTHCOM AORAn understanding of coca cultivation and production areas Familiarity with Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 203 (Analytic Standards) and ICD 206An understanding of how to operationalize the analytic output—shape/frame it in a way that supports operational planningDesired QualificationsPossess Master's degree in Data Science or related technical fieldExperience developing and working with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML)Demonstrated experience of advanced programming techniques, using one or more of the following: HTML 5/Javascript, ArcObjects, Python, Model Builder, Oracle, SQL, GIScience, GeospatiavAnalysis, Statistics, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Arc SDE, ArcIMS.Experience using NET, Python, C++, and/or JAVA programming for web interface development and geodatabase development.Experience building and maintaining databases of GEOINT, SIGINT, or OSINT data related to the area of interest needs.Data Visualization Experience which may include Matrix Analytics, Network Analytics, Graphing Data that assist the analytical workforce in generating common operational pictures depicting fused intelligence and information to support informal assessments and finished productsAbout the CompanyCulmen International is committed to enhancing international safety and security, strengthening homeland defense, advancing humanitarian missions, and optimizing government operations. The projected compensation range for this position is $105,000-130,000 annually. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Culmen's total compensation package for employees.
