Expediter / Food RunnerPosition Summary

The Expediter / Food Runner is responsible for ensuring food is delivered from the kitchen to the correct table quickly, accurately, and with proper presentation. This position works closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain smooth service and a high level of guest satisfaction. (Compensation is hourly plus tips.)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand for extended periods, move quickly throughout the restaurant, lift and carry food, and safely navigate a busy kitchen and dining room.

Work Environment

Fast-paced restaurant environment with frequent interaction between the kitchen, servers, bartenders, and guests. Teamwork, communication, cleanliness, and urgency are essential to the position.

Compensation:

$20 - $25 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Review completed dishes for accuracy, presentation, temperature, and proper garnishing.

• Ensure food is delivered to the correct table and guest promptly.

• Communicate with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff regarding food orders and modifications.

• Organize and prioritize food as it comes out of the kitchen.

• Maintain awareness of ticket times and help keep service moving efficiently.

• Confirm all items, sauces, sides, and special requests are included before food leaves the kitchen.

• Assist servers with running food during busy service periods.

• Clear and maintain the expo area throughout the shift.

• Keep kitchen and service areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.

• Communicate any errors, missing items, or quality concerns to the appropriate team member immediately.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures.

• Provide friendly and professional service to guests when delivering food.

• Assist with additional restaurant duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous restaurant experience preferred but not required.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work quickly and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry food trays and plates safely.

• Positive attitude and willingness to help the team.

• Reliable and punctual.
