Details Large academic hospital PACU supporting all major surgical services across two floors and 34 total ORs Unit provides pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care for both adult and pediatric populations The first floor includes 6 ORs, 2 cystoscopy suites, a shared Pediatric GI/Lithotripsy room, and prep/recovery for CT/MRI — with a high volume of pediatric patients The second floor includes 28 ORs servicing Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Pulmonary Lab cases Special procedures include regional anesthesia and ECT Equipment used includes Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and AccuVein Epic EMR experience is required Patient ratio is 1:2 Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (11:00–23:30) 2–3 scheduled weekends required per contract Floating to pediatric PACU is required as needed Requirements Active Louisiana RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — all must be AHA-issued PACU or Pre/Post Op experience preferred; Critical Care Post Op experience is a plus Epic EMR experience required Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Additional Information Nurses are responsible for caring for patients of all ages across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery settings Candidates must be comfortable providing care across both floors and all surgical service lines supported by the department In the event of an emergency (e.g., natural disaster), your unit manager may assign you to an Emergency Team with an expectation to remain at the facility until the event passes or to serve on the relief team — acceptance of this assignment means agreement to report as directed in such situations RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process Local candidates (within 65 miles of the facility) are not accepted for this position First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded — contact your recruiter for eligibility details American Traveler Job ID #P-720289.
