divh2Medical Assistant/h2pDepartment: 01120 AAH West Bend - Family Medicine/ppStatus: Full time/ppBenefits Eligible: Yes/ppHours Per Week: 40/ppSchedule Details/Additional Information:/ppMonday: 7:30-3:30/ppTuesday: 7:30-5:30/ppWednesday: 7:30-3:30/ppThursday: 8:00-4:00/ppFriday: 7:30-3:30/ppRotating Saturdays 8-1/ppPay Range: $21.85 - $32.80/ppMajor Responsibilities:/ppAdheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care./ppPerforms rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.)./ppAssists provider with or performs procedures as ordered./ppPerforms lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards./ppAdministers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration./ppPerforms other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals./ppCross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant./ppDemonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation./ppMaintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked./ppMust be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards./ppMinimum Job Requirements:/ppEducation:/ppIL/WI Divisions:/ppHigh School Diploma or GED required./ppCompletion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years./ppCertification / License:/ppIL/WI Divisions:/ppBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required./ppKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:/ppAbility to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency./ppExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians./ppProficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems./ppDemonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience./ppPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:/ppMust sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday./ppAbility to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available./ppUnique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis./ppMust have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills./ppWill be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.
