Nursing Professional Development - Generalist

Location: Virginia Beach, VA Work Shift: Rotating, Full‑Time Day Shift Overview Sentara Health is hiring a Full‑Time Day Shift Nursing Professional Development Generalist to support IMCU, ICU, and other clinical departments. This 40‑hour per week position is responsible for the development and implementation of staff education programs, orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education initiatives. Responsibilities Act as a learning facilitator for orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education. Provide foundational education competency and skills validation to help nurses progress from novice to competent practitioners. Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education, and professional development to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes. Support system and hospital performance‑improvement and evidence‑based practice projects and initiatives. Qualifications BSN required. Valid RN license in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire. Advanced or specialized life‑support certifications required upon hire (e.g., ACLS, Emergency Care ACLS & PALS, NRP, Inpatient Pediatrics PALS). Minimum of 5 years of relevant RN experience (pre‑op/surgical prep, phase‑2/PACU recovery) preferred. Classroom instruction or leadership experience preferred.
