Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our Orthopaedic Surgery clinic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including hospital rounds in the Desoto area, on call rotation with surgery assistance and clinic follow up care. This role requires excellent communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Administer medications, including injections, and manage acute pain through appropriate interventions.
• Provide care in various specialties such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and urgent care.
• Utilize EMR systems for accurate documentation of patient records and coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT).
• Engage in clinical research and data collection to enhance patient outcomes.
• Manage patients in critical care settings.
• Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care for patients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient settings.
• Conduct triage assessments in emergency room or urgent care environments.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.

Physician Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

• Master’s degree required
• Current state Physician Assistant license required
• Strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Patient, compassionate nature
• Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other nurses
• Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
• Must be familiar with medical charting system
• Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems preferred
• Prescriptive authorization required
• Disease prevention knowledge required
