Ph.D. Student / Junior Researcher in Agricultural and Resource Economics The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences offers a position as a Ph.D. Student / Junior Researcher in Agricultural and Resource Economics. The initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (starting at TV‑L E13 2/3). Tasks The successful candidate will conduct cutting‑edge empirical research in at least one of the following areas leading to an internationally competitive PhD degree and internationally peer‑reviewed publications: Productivity and efficiency of the agri‑food sector Digital, AI‑based and smart technologies in agriculture and resource management Agricultural, food and environmental policy impact analysis The position will include significant involvement in selected nationally and internationally funded projects, such as various EU Horizon projects (e.g. Smart4Welfare, StewardSoil, LandPrint) or nationally funded projects (e.g. CAP‑AB). The candidate will receive high quality supervision from the chair’s senior academic staff and may be involved in teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate level, funding acquisition and (global) outreach if desired. International networking and collaborations are regarded as an integral part of the PhD research experience and are explicitly encouraged (also with partners in South America, Asia or Africa). The PhD process will be accompanied by integration into TUM’s School of Life Sciences or School of Management and participation in the related Graduate School training programs. Qualifications An excellent or very‑good university degree in agricultural or resource economics, applied economics, agricultural sciences with a focus in economics, or related disciplines Strong analytical and methodological skills with a focus on quantitative data analysis (e.g., econometrics, statistics, machine learning) A high motivation and the ability to work independently with a strong team orientation Excellent spoken and written English and the willingness to acquire a certain working language of German We offer The Technical University of Munich provides state‑of‑the‑art research in a diverse and impact‑oriented atmosphere.
