Job Description

At La Bottega Pinarello New York, the workshop is a fundamental part of the customer experience. We are looking for an experienced Bicycle Mechanic who combines outstanding technical ability with a genuine passion for road cycling. This is a role for someone who does not simply work on bikes - they ride them, follow the sport and understand why the details matter. You should be an avid cyclist yourself, with road cycling playing a meaningful part in your life.

The Role  

As our Bicycle Mechanic, you will be responsible for assembling, servicing, maintaining and preparing customer bicycles to an exceptionally high standard. You will work with some of the most advanced road bikes and components in the industry and should understand the expectations of customers investing in premium performance equipment. Your own experience as a cyclist should inform the way you approach setup, performance, reliability and the final ride quality of every bike you work on. The workshop is a visible and important part of the La Bottega customer experience, so this role requires someone who is as dependable in their communication as they are in their technical work.

What You'll Do

• Assemble new Pinarello bicycles and framesets to manufacturer specifications
\n
• Build premium road and performance bicycles from individual components
\n
• Service and maintain customer bicycles
\n
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues accurately
\n
• Install and configure mechanical and electronic groupsets
\n
• Work with hydraulic braking systems
\n
• Install and service wheelsets, tires and tubeless systems
\n
• Install handlebars, stems, saddles and integrated cockpit systems
\n
• Complete torque checks and detailed quality-control inspections
\n
• Record bike specifications and build information accurately
\n
• Work with customer fit measurements and required setup information
\n
• Conduct final pre-delivery inspections before customer handover
\n
• Communicate clearly regarding build timelines, parts and technical issues
\n
• Explain technical recommendations to customers clearly and confidently
\n
• Maintain an organized, clean and professional workshop
\n
• Manage tools, workshop consumables and technical inventory responsibly
\n
• Support rides, races, events and brand activations where appropriate
\n
• Keep technical knowledge current across new products, systems and manufacturer requirements
\n

• Follow the sport and have an active interest in professional road racing, equipment, components and technical development

• Have professional bicycle workshop experience
\n
• Be confident working independently on premium bicycles and components
\n
• Understand the expectations of experienced and performance-focused cyclists
\n
• Take pride in precision, craftsmanship and the finished product
\n
• Have exceptional attention to detail
\n
• Work methodically and safely
\n
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
\n
• Work collaboratively with the retail team
\n
• Be comfortable speaking directly with knowledgeable customers
\n

Communication Is Essential

Technical ability alone is not enough for this role.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.

• Explain technical issues, service needs and recommendations clearly and confidently
\n
• Communicate effectively with customers who have different levels of technical knowledge
\n
• Keep Rider Advisors, Captains and leadership informed on build status, parts requirements, delays and potential issues
\n
• Set realistic expectations around timing and completion
\n
• Document bike builds, service work and technical information accurately
\n
• Raise problems early and communicate solutions rather than allowing issues to become surprises
\n
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to create a seamless customer experience
\n

For La Bottega, the workshop is part of the customer experience, so the mechanic must be as reliable in their communication as they are in their technical work.

Additional Experience

Experience in bike sales and/or bike fitting is a strong plus, particularly where it supports better technical recommendations and customer setup. Familiarity with rider position, fit measurements and translating fit information into final bike setup would be particularly valuable.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated hourly pay range for this part-time position is $24-$26 per hour, based on professional workshop experience, technical capability and relevant qualifications.
