About the Position

Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 24 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in requested specialty License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI preferred Must-Have: - ICU skills including arrhythmia monitoring - Knowledge of sedation and paralytics - Familiarity with titratable drips and CVP monitoring - Experience caring for post-craniotomy patients - TPA administration skills Description: This position is for an RN with ICU experience. The facility has a Level 2 Trauma Designation and is a teaching hospital. The ICU consists of 26 combined medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiac beds. Common patient diagnoses include drug overdose, psychosis, myocardial infarction, and sepsis. The nurse will need to be proficient in monitoring cardiac rhythms and managing ventilators. They should also be familiar with critical care interventions such as CRRT and intra-aortic balloon pumps. The staff-to-patient ratio in the ICU is generally 1:2 but can go up to 1:3 depending on acuity. The department values teamwork and encourages staff to seek help when needed. Responding timely to patient needs and alarms is essential in this role. Support is available within the department from a variety of allied health professionals and nursing staff. Weekend rotation and holiday coverage are expected as per the staffing needs. All applicants must meet the certification requirements listed above.
