JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher / Substitute Teaching Assistant

JOB LOCATION: Easterseals Learning Academy, Germantown Hills, Illinois

POSITION TYPE:  Per Diem

COMPENSATION: $120 per day

Easterseals Learning Academy is looking for Substitute Special Education Teachers and Substitute Teaching Assistants/Paraprofessionals to join our team on a per diem basis.

Substitutes provide valuable classroom support when regular staff members are absent, helping ensure our students continue to receive the individualized instruction, support, and consistency they need. This is a great opportunity for educators and paraprofessionals who want the flexibility of substitute work while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with disabilities.

You will work alongside our experienced classroom teams to support students with Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or multiple disabilities in a specialized educational setting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Depending on the role, responsibilities may include:

• Supporting classroom teachers and students throughout the school day
• Helping implement individualized instruction and educational programming
• Assisting students with academic, communication, social-emotional, and functional life skills
• Following student IEPs, classroom routines, and established instructional strategies
• Providing a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other members of the student's educational team

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must meet the Illinois State Board of Education and Regional Office of Education requirements for the applicable substitute credential. Required background checks and fingerprinting must be completed prior to beginning employment.

Substitute Teachers

• Bachelor's degree required
• Copy of substitute teaching certificate, college diploma, or teaching license
• Required fingerprinting/background screening
• Any required license registration and paperwork

Substitute Teaching Assistants/Paraprofessionals

• Associate's degree or at least 60 college credit hours required
• Copy of high school diploma
• Required fingerprinting/background screening
• Any required license registration and paperwork

Don't currently have a substitute license? That's okay! Our HR team can help you understand the steps to obtain the appropriate credential. License registration fees are the responsibility of the applicant.

ABOUT EASTERSEALS LEARNING ACADEMY

Easterseals Learning Academy is an Illinois State Board of Education-approved non-public school serving students with disabilities. Located in Germantown Hills, the Academy provides specialized educational programming for students with Autism, intellectual disabilities, and multiple disabilities.

Our classrooms are designed with a high staff-to-student ratio and individualized supports to help each student build academic, communication, social-emotional, and functional life skills. Instruction incorporates evidence-based practices and a curriculum aligned with Illinois learning standards.

Students may also receive integrated related services as determined by their IEP, including:

• Speech/language therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Physical therapy
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Counseling
