Administrative Assistant
As an Administrative Assistant with West Central Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities
This position will be based in Columbus and will provide administrative support daily to the District Clinical and Nursing Director as well as the District Health Director, as needed. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Review all forms/documents for accuracy prior to submitting to the DND for approval.
- Will require intermediate skills in Microsoft office products and applications for data entry and tracking, calendar and meeting management, virtual conferencing platforms, composing and distributing correspondences, handle travel and leave requests
- Assist with the development of MOU's, MOA's and contracts for the 16-county health departments.
- Provide administrative support for the District QA/QI Clinical Team, nurse training, and Employee Health.
- Serve as a liaison between the district and county level staff and community partners.
- Serve as a backup for the Admin Assistant for the Executive Leadership Team and any other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower-level Admin Assistant 2 (GST051) or position equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and Four or more years experience managing correspondence for high level managers, including drafting documents. Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously with short deadlines for completion. Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data entry, etc.). Must demonstrate excellent customer service and oral communication skills, to effectively interact with all levels of departmental personnel and outside customers. Work requires the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously.
Additional Information
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department Of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
