Job Summary: As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. This role requires a compassionate, resilient, and highly skilled professional who can navigate unique challenges to deliver exceptional mental health support. Responsibilities: Provide direct patient care in a psychiatric setting, working closely with patients and their families. Administer medications and monitor their effects, including psychopharmacology. Perform specialized procedures such as gastric lavage and airway management when necessary. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate course of care for patients with special needs. Assist with utilization management to ensure efficient and effective use of resources. Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options. Coordinate care with other departments, such as laboratory, medical imaging, sterile processing, and specimen collection processing. Provide dementia care for patients with cognitive impairments. Ideal Candidate: Two (2+) years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience with mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans, and managing crisis situations. Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia. Experience working with Athena (EHR) preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Understanding of utilization management principles to optimize patient care.
