About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its comprehensive fundraising program. The CDO will be the senior fundraising executive for the institution, responsible for planning, organizing, and executing strategies to secure major, principal, and transformational gifts from various philanthropic partners. This role involves close collaboration with the Dean, faculty, staff, and university leadership to advance the institution's strategic priorities through philanthropy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in securing major gifts, leading fundraising programs, and managing high-performing teams. They should be adept at engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including faculty, alumni, and high-net-worth individuals, and be able to translate complex scientific and research initiatives into compelling cases for philanthropic investment. Applicants for the CDO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years' of professional experience in a university advancement or development setting. A Master's degree and 10 years' of experience are preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic and higher education development, with a deep understanding of the research environment. Key skills include exceptional communication, networking, and relationship management, as well as the ability to lead and mentor a team. The CDO will be expected to have a strong analytical and critical thinking ability, knowledge of risk management in higher education, and experience with donor management systems. The role requires a strategic and intellectually curious leader who can operate effectively in a mission-driven, scientific, and translational research environment.
