Your Mission

• Own programming from print/model to production: interpret drawings, specs, GD&T, and 3D models to build dependable CAM programs for mills (3/4/5‑axis) and CNC lathes (preferred).
• Program, edit, and optimize in Mastercam for accuracy, finish, and repeatability.
• Engineer machining strategies—tool selection, speeds/feeds, operations sequencing, fixturing, and setup approach.
• Create complete documentation: setup sheets, tooling data, and step‑by‑step work instructions.
• Assist with machine setups and first‑piece prove‑outs; provide on‑the‑spot technical support to operators.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to code, tooling, workholding, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and machine performance.
• Continuously improve programs and processes to reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and raise yield and quality.
• Use SolidWorks and 3D data to plan, validate, and verify toolpaths.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges to confirm compliance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and the Machine Shop to enhance manufacturability and throughput.
• Maintain revision‑controlled programs and setup documentation aligned with current engineering.
• Operate within AS9100 requirements, customer specifications, and internal work instructions; keep the work area clean and safe.
• Align programming priorities with the shop schedule and support broader Pro‑Type activities as needed.

What It Takes

• High school diploma or equivalent; machining/CNC programming or manufacturing technology training preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Track record of programming CNC equipment in a precision metal manufacturing setting.
• Mastercam proficiency (or comparable CAM); strong experience with 3-, 4-, and/or 5‑axis milling; lathe programming preferred.
• Working knowledge of CNC mill and lathe setup/operation; hands‑on machining background.
• Understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, workholding/fixtures, operation sequencing, and machining processes.
• Manual machining experience is a plus.
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models; apply GD&T effectively.
• SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD proficiency.
• Metrology experience with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
• Skilled at troubleshooting program, tooling, fixture, dimensional, finish, and machine performance issues.
• Capable of writing clear setup instructions and communicating technical details to operators and peers.
• Strong math/analysis, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Works independently while partnering effectively with the Shop, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
• Experience in aerospace/defense or AS9100‑certified environments preferred.
• Dependable attendance; ability to work assigned schedules and overtime when required.
• Physical demands: stand through full shifts and safely lift/move up to 75 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
