We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our small mechanic team. This role involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment across multiple sites. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in diesel engine repair, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections, supporting both routine shop repairs and emergency field service to ensure fleet reliability and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines, trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and fuel system issues
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, suspensions, steering components, and driveline systems
- Conduct engine diagnostics using manufacturer-specific software and tools
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Complete accurate work orders and document all repairs performed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform field repairs at various sites
- Coordinate repair recommendations with supervisors and fleet management
- Maintain inventory of tools and assist with parts ordering as necessary
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience
- Valid driver’s license
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification
- Proficient in diesel engine repair, preventative maintenance, electrical diagnostics, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension and steering repair, HVAC systems, and engine rebuilds
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with standard shop tools, specialized diagnostic software, and manufacturer-specific tools
- Ability to travel regularly to multiple job sites
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a safety-focused mindset
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a small mechanic team
- Comfortable performing routine shop repairs and emergency field service
