Job Description The Senior Vice President of Engineering focuses on executive leadership of ASIC, silicon, and hardware engineering within the networking high-end data centers, AI infrastructure build, branch and campus, and high-end routing industry. Work includes defining, designing, developing, validating, troubleshooting, and productizing custom silicon, hardware platforms, and system-level solutions that power high-performance routing, switching, data center, cloud, AI networking, service provider, and enterprise networking products. Requires deep knowledge of ASIC development, custom/commercial hardware architecture dealing with various JDM, ODM, as well as CM partners, networking systems, silicon lifecycle execution, hardware/software integration, and the engineering methodologies and modern AI tools required to deliver scalable, reliable, and competitive networking platforms. Deep knowledge of RTL, SDK, and mechanical optics is desirable. Directs and manages a diverse global organization of ASIC, silicon, hardware, systems, validation, and platform engineering professionals responsible for the architecture, development, implementation, and delivery of networking and routing products across the company's portfolio. Responsible for creating and communicating the technical strategy for custom silicon and hardware platforms, aligning networking ASIC roadmaps with product, software, supply chain, customer, and business priorities, and influencing technology direction across the function and broader organization. Responsibilities Leads the strategy, architecture, execution, and delivery of a global ASIC and hardware engineering organization, including silicon design, hardware platforms, systems engineering, validation, and productization from concept through production release. Drives end-to-end execution across complex custom silicon and hardware development lifecycles, including architecture tradeoffs, RTL and IP development, verification, emulation, DFT, physical design, post-silicon validation, lab bring-up, system integration, and manufacturing readiness. Partners with product, software, supply chain, operations, customers, and executive stakeholders to align ASIC and hardware roadmaps with business priorities, customer requirements, cost targets, quality expectations, and time-to-market goals. Defines and advances hardware and ASIC strategies for routing, switching, and high-performance networking platforms, including data center, hyperscaler, AI networking, campus, service provider, and edge networking environments. Leads innovation across networking hardware architectures, packet forwarding, routing scale, telemetry, high-speed Ethernet, optical interconnects, platform resiliency, and system-level performance to support next-generation networking products. Manages overall operational activities for the organization, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that strategic goals and budgets are met in accordance with organizational metrics and business plans. Engages with senior and executive leadership for programs, marketing, supply chain, and technical leaders to integrate activities, elevate issues, and guide company-wide strategic decision-making. Manages and develops executive relationships and escalated issues with outsourced partners and suppliers to ensure that organization is effectively leveraging outsourced resources and identify opportunities for strategic growth and development. Provides executive leadership for business process improvement and cost reduction initiatives and programs across the geography or business segment. Provides overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; drives and fosters organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development. Education and Experience Required BS/MS degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering. Advanced university degree preferred. Typically 20 or more years of related work experience, including 15 or more years of people management experience. Knowledge and Skills Deep knowledge of networking and routing industry requirements, including routing and switching architectures, packet processing, forwarding planes, control plane interactions, high-speed SerDes, Ethernet standards, optics, network operating systems, and hardware/software co-design. Experience leading engineering organizations that deliver carrier-grade, enterprise, cloud, or hyperscale networking products, with emphasis on reliability, availability, scalability, latency, throughput, power efficiency, and secure platform design. Deep technical and business understanding of ASIC, SoC, silicon, and hardware platform development, including advanced process technologies, design methodologies, verification strategies, hardware/software integration, and production qualification. Proven ability to build, scale, and lead high-performing global engineering teams across silicon design, hardware engineering, verification, validation, architecture, and cross-functional execution disciplines. Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team building, conflict resolution, and management. Organizational and strategic management skills, including strategic vision and planning development and forecasting. Highly experienced in managing human capital across geographies and functional areas to drive workforce development and achieve desired results. Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English language. Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more engineering, technology, and product domains. Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with executive/C-level roles for internal and external partners. Demonstrates thought leadership by coaching and advising SVP, EVP, CEO, and Board of Director as appropriate. Impact/Scope Collaborates across geographies and business segments to deliver multidisciplinary engineering and product solutions. Typically interacts with high-level Individual Contributors, Managers, Directors, and VPs and SVPs for internal and external suppliers, partners, and customers. Owns the strategic direction and execution performance of mission-critical ASIC and hardware programs that directly influence product competitiveness, customer outcomes, gross margin, innovation velocity, and long-term technology differentiation. Shapes differentiated networking silicon and hardware capabilities that enable competitive routing and switching platforms, improve network performance, and support customer requirements across enterprise, cloud, service provider, and AI-driven infrastructure markets. Complexity Anticipates strategic needs and impact on the business and company as a whole. Navigates highly complex technical, operational, and business tradeoffs across multi-year silicon and hardware roadmaps, balancing performance, power, cost, schedule, quality, supply continuity, and customer commitments. Balances networking industry requirements and platform tradeoffs across routing scale, forwarding performance, port density, optics, thermal design, silicon roadmap timing, software readiness, interoperability, standards compliance, and customer deployment needs. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. United States of America: Annual Salary USD 300,000 - 600,000 in California. The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered.
