Successful Summer Analysts will be able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, intense and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate. Although a background in programming or finance is helpful, JFIN hires interns who have studied a variety of disciplines.

What you can expect - Financial Planning and Accounting (FP &A) Summer Analyst

The FP&A intern is staffed on our Finance and Accounting teams and is primarily responsible for (i) assisting in preparation of internal monitoring and reporting for senior management, (ii) customizing presentations for internal and external stakeholders, and (iii) assisting in analysis of accounting data. Interns are generalists and will have exposure to a comprehensive list of financial and accounting responsibilities critical to the management of a diversified financial institution.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Preparing reconciliations of cash and investment positions and tracking expenses.
• Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and related reporting.
• Assisting in the annual audit, including preparation of year-end schedules for the overall consolidated financial statements, disclosures, and analysis.
• Designing and updating presentations for various institutional investors, rating agencies, other financial institutions, in addition to management, and other internal parties.
• Assisting with specific reporting/analysis requests, and special projects.
• Assisting Managing Directors and senior staff as needed with various reports and analyses of strategic initiatives.
