Field Service Technician (Calibration)

Also, will have the opportunity to support the local Transcat laboratory when not traveling.Calibration Technician I is an entry-level position that requires either education in the mechanics/electronics/calibration field or at least one (1) year of calibration experience. Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate low-end process instrumentation in up to three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat's technician skills progression matrix.ResponsibilitiesMajor areas of responsibility include:Work with other technicians within the lab to learn calibration fundamentals, which can include measurement, temperature, electronics, etc.Perform onsite calibration and can travel both overnight on some projects, and locallyIdentify and utilize appropriate measurement techniquesMaintain calibration standardsWorking knowledge and competency in at least three 3 disciplines (dimensional, electrical, torque, temperature, pressure, etc.)Perform calibration work within a laboratory setting and/or while supervised at a customer on-siteFulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with company requirements and standardsOther duties as assignedTravel requirement: up to 50% of work scheduleTravel requirements include:This is a travel position Monday through Friday- up to 50% of the time.Company pays for all lodging and expenses when away from homePrimary objectives include:Learn fundamental calibration skills and techniquesDevelop skills necessary to perform calibrations independentlyDevelop skills necessary to advance to Calibration Technician II position, which includes a working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert competency in one (1) disciplineDeliver on Transcat's Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)QualificationsRequired knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Calibration experience and/or equivalent training with commercial and/or biomedical measurement and test equipment (M&TE)Self-motivator requiring little or no supervisionCustomer service orientedAbility to interact with customers & coworkers in a professional mannerProficiency with MS Office and the internet; familiarity with basic database functionality3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver historyEducation and experience include:Associate degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related field experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired experience/skills include:Military PMEL trainingStrong attention to detail - able to follow written instructions.Ability to plan and prioritize diversified workload and work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
