Property Assistant New Destiny's mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness for low-income families and individuals by developing and connecting them to safe, permanent, affordable housing and services. To achieve its mission, New Destiny builds and manages housing with on-site services; offers innovative programs that assist survivors in finding and retaining affordable housing; and works to expand access to permanent housing resources for survivors. New Destiny is the largest provider of supportive housing for domestic violence survivors in New York and is a leading advocate in the effort to obtain the resources needed to end family homelessness in New York City. Job Purpose The Property Assistant supports the daily operations of all New Destiny Housing's properties. This position provides general office support to the Property Management Department. The primary responsibility is to perform all administrative duties and provide additional support with special projects as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Mail out monthly rent bills, late rent notices, and other correspondence. Provide attorneys and residents with updated rent ledgers. Assist residents with requests (i.e. copies of leases, ledgers, rent payments, shelter verifications, etc.). Update the Vacancy, Repairs and other reports as needed. Assist in maintaining the waiting list for potential residents to help fill vacancies and send out applications. Follow up with tenant complaints and assist in bringing the matter to a resolution. Provide support with answering emails and phone calls Provide backup support in creating work orders and communicating with vendors. Travel to all sites monthly to pick up rent checks, signed leases, and other administrative duties. Other tasks as needed Qualifications Experience in administrative and property management background is preferred. Experience using property management software is preferred. Ability to work independently on deadline-driven tasks. Experience working with diverse populations. An understanding of trauma-informed care practices preferred. Excellent communication skills and problem solving. Position is mostly in person with some flexibility. Travel throughout the five boroughs is required. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred. Compensation/Benefits Salary for this position is $50,000. This is a full-time position with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short disability, PTO paid holidays and 401(k). EOE
