Probate Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

About the Role
We are seeking a Probate Paralegal / Legal Assistant to provide administrative and substantive legal support to attorneys handling probate and trust administration matters . The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with probate and trust administration matters from opening through closing.
- Prepare probate petitions, inventories, accountings, affidavits, and other court filings.
- Gather and organize information related to estate assets, liabilities, beneficiaries, and distributions.
- Communicate with clients, personal representatives, beneficiaries, financial institutions, courts, and other parties.
- Maintain probate timelines and monitor deadlines to ensure compliance with court requirements.
- Assist with estate administration, including asset transfers and related documentation.
- Schedule meetings, appointments, hearings, and deadlines.
- Assist with case management and workflow tracking.
- Perform administrative duties including filing, scanning, document management, and answering phones.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client, financial, and firm information.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of legal assistant, paralegal, or related legal experience .
- At least 1 year of probate and/or trust administration experience .
- Experience preparing legal documents and maintaining legal files.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Probate and/or trust administration experience.
- Paralegal education or certification.
Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Optional Summer Hours: Fridays 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
