Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN requiring 2+ years of recent specialty experience and MO or compact RN licensure for a night shift contract.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an average daily census of 29 and 30 beds
• Patient population includes sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, orthopedic, urology, and GI bleed cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
• Weekend requirement of 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within service line and to sister facilities as needed
• Charting completed in Epic

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or compact) required, both Kansas and Missouri license or compact required due to floating needs
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• Community hospital experience required
• Experience with MS/Tele, cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care required
• Proficient in starting/maintaining IVs, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), and PCA
• Experience managing CVA, total joint replacement, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management
• 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• SSN and RTO/scheduling requests required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to an intermediate-level patient population with cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical needs
• Collaborate with Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, with no new requests after submission
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates and local travelers are not accepted
• Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must complete an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service before returning, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers accepted, though travel experience is preferred
• Facility may extend offers without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated upon request
