Safety Manager

Safety Manager Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Job Type: Full time Responsibilities Plan, implement, and manage programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses. Develop accident‑prevention and loss‑control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies. Manage safety activities through subordinate supervisory personnel to ensure organization‑wide implementation. Provide safety training, identify hazards, and oversee training activities. Conduct routine safety inspections, analyze high‑hazard areas, and recommend elimination or control of hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and EPA; prepare reports and maintain compliance records. Respond to OSHA and EPA citations or violations. Perform and assist with workplace evaluations, accident investigations, and coordinate with insurance carriers for workers’ compensation, property, and auto claims. Assist risk management in preparing the safety portion of pre‑qualification documents. Oversee and implement hazardous‑waste removal. Additional Duties Chair safety committee meetings. Respond and assist during emergency situations. Attend conferences, meetings, and workshops to stay current on safety methods, procedures, and applicable codes and regulations to maintain required certifications. Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of relevant experience in safety and compliance, EPA and OSHA regulatory experience, or equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Ability to understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety. Previous experience in environmental health and safety compliance. Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines and work independently. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone, and in writing. Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment. Excellent computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets. Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude and the highest level of integrity. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Maintain regular and timely attendance. Physical/Sensory Demands Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office and warehouse environment. Regularly required to sit for long periods, use a computer to enter data or design products, use a telephone to converse with customers, staff, and other departments, and perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements. Regularly required to talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.
