Position Overview

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join its high-acuity perinatal team. This position is ideal for an RN with recent experience in a high-volume Labor & Delivery setting who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is comfortable caring for both routine and high-risk obstetrical patients.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients.
• Perform maternal and fetal assessments throughout labor and delivery.
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and contraction patterns.
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
• Administer medications and manage obstetrical emergencies.
• Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, and newborn care.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, NICU staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Accurately document patient care and clinical interventions.

Requirements

• Active  Texas RN License or Compact RN License.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery/Perinatal experience in a high-volume delivery service.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Current certifications:
  • BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification
