Embedded Software Engineer

Payrate: $47.30 - $47.30/hr. As an Embedded Software Engineer at the Waterloo Product Engineering Center, you will play a critical role in a collaborative software development team. You will work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders to deliver optimized and validated embedded software solutions for the Drivetrain Electronics team, focusing on Transmission controls for large tractors. Your work will enhance customer operations while ensuring functional safety goals are met. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with team members to plan, prioritize, and execute software development tasks.
  • Deliver embedded software solutions for drivetrain electronics, specifically focusing on transmission controls.
  • Develop, validate, and tune software systems for optimal performance.
  • Support current product features and contribute to the development of future designs.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in developing embedded applications using C, MATLAB Simulink, or similar applications.
  • Proficiency in control theory applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for team collaboration.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing software requirements.
  • Familiarity with software development processes for embedded applications.
  • Ability to work independently.

Skills:

  • Experience in the design/diagnostics of transmission, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Strong passion for embedded engineering and learning new technologies.
  • Experience with control systems design and analysis in agricultural applications.
  • Proficiency in model-based software development tools.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits and components, with the ability to read schematics and data sheets.
  • Experience with continuous integration development and automated build tools.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems tools such as emulators, compilers, and simulators.
  • Experience in automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment such as Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $47.30 - $47.30/hr. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
