Hybrid Consumer/Sales and Use Tax Accountant

I'm partnering with a publicly traded company in the DTC looking to add a Consumer/Sales & Use Tax Accountant to its tax team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into the details, researching complex taxability questions, and making informed tax decisions rather than simply relying on automated systems. What They're Looking For: 2+ years of Sales & Use Tax experience preferred Strong tax research capabilities - this is a major focus of the role Solid accounting knowledge and understanding of transactional activity Ability to independently evaluate purchases and determine appropriate tax treatment Comfortable researching and resolving situations where the tax treatment isn't immediately clear High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage deadlines and ensure tax payments and compliance obligations are completed accurately Collaborative personality and strong team fit - culture is especially important within this close-knit department What You'll Be Doing: Analyze 2,000-3,000 purchase transactions per month to validate the accuracy of taxes charged Investigate the taxability of goods and services across a variety of purchasing categories Evaluate transaction details to determine whether additional consumer use tax is due Research state and local tax rules to support taxability determinations Review invoices, purchase documentation, and transaction data to identify potential tax discrepancies Make independent tax determinations when system coding or automated tax logic does not provide a clear answer Investigate the underlying nature of purchases to determine the appropriate sales or use tax treatment Calculate and document tax adjustments needed to maintain accurate compliance Prepare and submit tax-related payment requests while ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals are in place Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and other Sales & Use Tax compliance activities Partner with members of the tax and accounting teams to resolve transaction-level questions and improve overall accuracy Nice to Have: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field SAP experience Experience reviewing high volumes of transactions Background working in manual or research-intensive tax environments Strong Excel, reporting, and reconciliation skills Experience researching the taxability of products and services If you're a Sales & Use Tax professional who enjoys research, analysis, and solving complex tax questions , I'd love to connect. #J-18808-Ljbffr CV Resources
