Registered Nurse - Operating Room

About This Role The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Northwell Health is responsible for providing age-specific care to patients using the nursing process. This role is ideal for nurses who excel in a collaborative environment and are skilled in coordinating patient care. Highlights Location: Huntington, NY Facility: Northwell Health Schedule: Full-Time, Night shift On Call: Required What You'll Do Perform an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients. Collaborate with physicians and health team members in implementing procedures and treatments. Assess the patient's physiologic health status through interviews and chart reviews. Determine mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition, adjusting the plan of care as needed. Communicate and document patient's physiologic health status and plan of care. Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes and identify actual/potential patient problems. Formulate the plan of care and establish priorities to achieve expected outcomes. Maintain constant vigilance over patient care to ensure safety precautions are followed. Administer medications correctly and safely, educating patients on drug interactions. Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge planning. Requirements Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: Documented OR experience required. Licenses & Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; BLS certification required; Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment and obtain a BSN within five years.
