Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.Details\n \n Acute care Medical-Surgical unit with 18 beds, mostly private rooms\n General medicine patient population with various diagnoses\n Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights\n RNs titrate Heparin drips\n 24-hour Charge RN and House Supervisor coverage on every shift\n Two PCTs per shift with a 9:1 ratio when unit is full\n Patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP overnight or PRN\n Telemetry patients monitored remotely via house-wide telemetry department using Phillips equipment\n Unit clerk provides 24-hour coverage\n Uses EPIC EMR\n 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p\n Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat nights)\n Holiday rotation required per policy\n No call or standby requirement\n Travel RNs float first to other units as needed\n Requirements\n \n Active IL RN license required\n BLS certification (AHA) required\n ACLS preferred for Charge RN role\n 1+ year of hospital experience preferred\n Must be able to attempt IV starts, utilizing unit resources if unsuccessful\n Negative drug screen required for all panels\n Additional Information\n \n Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage in house 24/7\n Respiratory Therapy in house 24/7\n Pharmacy in house 24/7 with all medications prepared by pharmacy staff\n Inpatient phlebotomy team handles blood draws\n Any color scrubs permitted, self-provided, no pediatric scrubs\n Typical orientation includes one 12-hour shift with a unit preceptor\n COVID vaccination not required\n No radius rule restricting eligibility, though local rate applies within 50 miles of the facility\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-749591.
