Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 or 48 hours per week accepted. Every other weekend required. Must be available for holidays. Assignment length: 13–26 weeks.

Highlights:

• General Medical/Surgical unit caring for adults and geriatric patients with a daily census of approximately 43 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on night shift
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
• 24-hour orientation period provided upon start
• Charge nurse role preferred for night shift travelers with previous charge experience
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• BLS certification required; CPI preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation testing prior to start
• Experience with heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and BiPap support
• Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, IV management, and surgical drain care
• First-time travelers accepted; local candidates considered
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to general medical/surgical patients in an acute care setting
• Manage patients requiring heparin drips, wound vac therapy, high flow oxygen, and limited BiPap support with respiratory team assistance
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed for patient care continuity
• May provide care to COVID-positive patients following appropriate protocols
• Participate in call coverage if prescheduled shift is placed on call
• Serve on assigned Inclement Weather/Storm Team during catastrophic events or disasters as required
• Attend mandatory monthly unit team meetings (night shift meetings held at 07:30 on designated Fridays)
