Job Description

Summary


WellSpan Health is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week night-shift travel assignment. The position requires a strong acute-care respiratory therapy background with experience in adult critical care and emergency department settings , along with demonstrated competency in ventilator management, airway management, ABGs, oxygen therapy, and respiratory medication administration.


This is a travel-only RRT position . Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience , prior travel experience, Epic experience , and RRT credentials . CRT candidates will not be considered.


The schedule is a combination of 12-hour and 8-hour night shifts , with every-other-weekend coverage required.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to adult acute-care and critical-care patients.
• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory conditions and complex medical needs.
• Manage mechanical ventilation, including CPAP, BiPAP, ventilator troubleshooting, and weaning.
• Assist with intubation and extubation procedures.
• Provide airway management and suctioning, including ETT, NT, oral, and tracheostomy suctioning.
• Provide oxygen therapy using HFNC, oxygen tanks, T-piece, trach collar, and other oxygen delivery systems.
• Set up and administer aerosol treatments and nebulizer therapies.
• Administer respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Pulmicort, Flovent, Perforomist, Spiriva, racemic epinephrine, and other prescribed inhaled therapies.
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Provide pulmonary hygiene and chest physiotherapy, including vest therapy.
• Provide tracheostomy care and management.
• Assist with bronchoscopy procedures.
• Care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, COVID, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomies.
• Support high-risk deliveries and neonatal/pediatric respiratory procedures as applicable.
• Perform basic EKGs.
• Document respiratory care accurately in Epic .
• Follow infection-control procedures and appropriate PPE requirements, including care for potential COVID patients.

Holiday Requirement


Travelers are expected to work 2 of the following 3 major holiday periods :

1. Thanksgiving Day / Black Friday
2. Christmas Eve / Christmas Day
3. New Year's Eve / New Year's Day

If the assignment covers only two of these holiday periods, the traveler is expected to work 1 of the 2 .


Do not request more than 1 holiday off.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Education must meet the requirements for RRT credentialing and the facility's traveler guidelines.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of professional Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Travel experience required.
• Community hospital experience required.
• Strong experience in adult critical care and Emergency Department settings.
• Experience managing mechanically ventilated patients.
• Experience with acute and complex respiratory conditions.
• Must be comfortable caring for potential COVID patients.
• Epic experience required.
