Directs and leads other assigned team members, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide age/developmentally appropriate care. Provides patient-centered care addressing physical, emotional, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. Conducts assessments, develops nursing diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans and implements interventions, provides health teaching, and evaluates care. Ensures a therapeutic environment and participates in professional governance and development. Correctional-specific responsibilities include:Delivering nursing care to inmates/detainees while following correctional facility safety and security protocols.Responding promptly to emergencies anywhere within the secure perimeter (medical emergencies, injuries, suicide attempts, etc.).Managing care in intake/booking, general population, segregation, and medical observation units.Coordinating with correctional officers for safe inmate movement and maintaining awareness of the security environment.Maintaining strict control and accountability of sharps, medications, and clinical tools.Ensuring proper boundaries, communication standards, and compliance with PREA expectations.Documenting care in accordance with correctional medical record requirements and chain-of-custody considerations when applicable.Minimum Education and Experience:Bachelor of Nursing preferred. RN staff hired after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree must be enrolled in a BSN program within two years and complete it within four years. Minimum one year of RN experience required.Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:Licensure as an RN by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers requiredPhysical Requirements:1. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. 2. Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams. 3. Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed. 4. Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors. 5. Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions. 6. Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations. 7. Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility. 8.
