Senior Training Developer

Job Description Leidos is seeking a Senior Training Developer to support a high‑impact, multi‑agency program serving the United States Space Force (USSF), Space Systems Command (SSC), United States Air Force (USAF), and other critical mission stakeholders. The selected individual will play a key role in enhancing, testing, and deploying a large‑scale Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in public key infrastructure (PKI) and key management, excel at complex problem solving, and have a strong record of delivering results in fast‑paced, Agile development environments. Location Columbia, Maryland (alternative duty locations: San Diego, California; Englewood, Colorado; Huntsville, Alabama). Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. Primary Responsibilities Plan, design, and implement blended‑learning solutions (classroom, CBT/WBT, and other instructional technologies). Design, develop, and deliver certifiable training programs for adult learners on complex, multi‑node software/server systems in a classroom environment. Collaborate with instructors, ISDs, technical writers, web managers, and other team members to produce and maintain high‑quality training products. Instruct and support adult learners while managing classroom workstations and maintaining a ready, operational training environment. Partner with subject‑matter experts to define instructional requirements, analyze system functionality, adapt engineering documentation, and implement effective training solutions. Develop, update, and maintain instructional content, including Written Courses of Instruction (WCI), lesson plans, CBT modules, and human‑machine interface training materials. Evaluate and refine instructional programs, course content, and methodologies; analyze learning objectives against program requirements and support data collection for multi‑level evaluation and assessment. Create job aids and other performance support tools for end users, subject‑matter experts, and instructors who are new to the targeted technology. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design, or related field, with at least 12 years of training‑related experience (degree can be substituted with experience). At least 7 years of experience in platform delivery design and development for technology‑based systems. At least 3 years of recent (within the last 10 years) in‑classroom training experience delivering hands‑on technical instruction. Extensive experience developing, using, and maintaining training products (CBT/WBT, web‑based content, course materials). Experience working directly with technical staff (system engineers, software developers, system administrators, etc.). High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Excellent writing and editing skills. Self‑motivated, proactive, with the ability to independently plan and prioritize daily tasks, ongoing projects, and recurring processes. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills. Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with or in military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) organizations (USAF, USSF, or another agency). Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) / key‑management programs and technologies. Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design, Human Systems Engineering, or related discipline. Experience developing job aids for users and/or instructors on new technologies. Extensive experience developing technical publications (requirements specifications, user manuals, technical manuals, training manuals). Experience using graphics applications and scripting languages (Photoshop, HTML, JavaScript). System administration experience troubleshooting workstations and networks. Familiarity with complex network systems (firewalls, load balancers, NIDS, NAT, PAT, VPC, ACLs) on multiple hardware platforms including Cisco Nexus and Catalyst lines. Proficiency with Windows Server (2008/2012/2016, including Server Core) and Linux system administration. Security Clearance Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.
