Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description The Meng Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in a molecular virology lab to study the underlying mechanism(s) of hepatitis E virus (HEV)-associated extrahepatic pathogenesis. The candidates will utilize both in vitro and in vivo model systems to investigate how hepatitis E virus invades the central and peripheral nervous systems to cause neurological injuries leading to various neurological sequalae. The candidates will delineate the molecular, immunological and inflammatory mechanisms associated with hepatitis E virus infection in cells of neurovascular unit, and evaluate the effect of inhibitor(s) on therapeutic intervention of HEV-related neurological sequelae. The candidates are expected to have good written and communication skills, and effectively collaborate with other postdoctoral associates in the lab. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in virology, immunology, cell biology or related fields. Ph.D. must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in viral immunology or molecular virology.
