Purpose and Scope: Provide administrative, technical, and analytical support to Plant Leadership, Managers, Senior Professionals, and select customers for the Harrison Steel Plant (HSP) and Gambrinus Steel Plant (GSP). This position requires the highest level of confidentiality and is responsible for maintaining and organizing critical business documents, personnel records, labor relations documentation, and time-sensitive information. The role also supports labor relations activities, including negotiations, grievance administration, disciplinary actions, and compliance with labor agreements and company policies.

Responsibilities:

• Human Resources and Payroll Support
  • Support all hourly employees at GSP and HSP by reviewing and entering timekeeping information, administering uniform programs, accurately track locker assignments for both Metallus and Cintas lockers and assisting supervisors with timekeeping-related activities.
  • Process employee data changes and maintain accurate personnel and employment records.
  • Analyze hourly workforce data and generate reports related to labor hours, overtime usage, overtime percentages, and departmental trends.
  • Partner with plant leadership to identify and resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies.
  • Track, maintain, and enter employee training records to ensure accurate training compliance for both plants.
• Plant Administration and Operational Support
  • Collect, compile, and distribute plant and area performance metrics and reports.
  • Maintain plant forms, organizational charts, and other operational documentation.
  • Partner with Quality representatives to update, control, and maintain plant standards and documentation.
  • Conduct monthly audits of departmental SQDRC boards and communicate findings as required.
  • Provide administrative support to plant leadership, including calendar management, meeting coordination, telephone support, correspondence, and document preparation.
  • Arrange plant tours and coordinate meetings for customers, suppliers, community partners, and Metallus personnel, both domestic and international.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, including itineraries, agendas, logistics, and accommodations.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of office and plant administrative supplies.
  • Support internal communications through newsletters, bulletin boards, intranet content, community publications, and other communication channels.
  • Plan and coordinate employee and community events, including charitable campaigns, wellness initiatives, and employee engagement activities.
• Vendor and Financial Administration
  • Review, reconcile, and process invoices related to uniform services and other assigned vendor accounts.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely processing of invoices and related documentation.
• Backup and Cross-Functional Support
  • Provide backup administrative support for labor-management activities involving local and international union representatives, facility leadership, arbitrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain records related to disciplinary actions, grievances, labor correspondence, negotiations, and labor compliance requirements.
  • Provide backup support for the processing and tracking of grievances, including disciplinary matters, contractual disputes, insurance issues, and other concerns, ensuring compliance with timelines established by the Basic Labor Agreement.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information, labor relations matters, investigations, and business-sensitive information.
  • Provide backup coverage and perform essential responsibilities during the absence of the Manufacturing Representative and Labor Relations & Manufacturing Support Representative II.
  • Support additional administrative, labor relations, and operational initiatives as assigned.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a manufacturing environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/timekeeping systems.
• Knowledge of labor agreements, grievance administration, and labor relations practices preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma with at least 1 year of business administration experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• High school diploma with at least 5 years of labor relations or union experience.
• Associates degree in business administration, operations management, or a related degree with at least 2 years of labor relations or union experience.
